Snow Fun

Once again, last night at bedtime we were expecting an inch or so of snow.  We got 6 or 7.  I'm sure it's quite a blessing for a lot of folks who have had kids stuck in the house since Monday.  Parker's had a blast sledding and building her snowman.

Gigi is still stuck here.  Luckily she brought a ton of craft project with her, like Harvey here.  You see a bunny too, right?

Ice pics

My sister request that I post snow pics, so here are some.  Although actually, there isn't really much snow.  Our issue is the inch of ice that's covering most of the roadways and the parking lots.
This is the ice on the patio.  The driveway looks the same, but our neighborhood roads are mainly dry.

Parker's keeping herself amused with unlimited computer. I just saw on the news website that her school is closed again tomorrow.  If this means summer will be shorter, I'm ok with it.

Claudette is cross stitching.  She's stuck here until the roads are a little safer.

Bob is on a conference call.  He's such a professional that he dresses up just to talk on the phone.

snowy day!

Last night when I went up to check on Parker, she was all snuggled up underneath all her covers - VERY strange for her.  Normally her donkey feet would have kicked everything off.  I told Bob about it and he said "yes, she was very concerned about the cold front coming in".
She was right to be concerned.  The temps have been dropping and dropping and this morning's rain finally turned to snow around noon.  It didn't take long at all to cover the ground - big thick wet flakes.

After I took this picture, Parker's friend made a snowball too, and it took me nearly too long to figure out who they were going to throw them at.....I got out of the way just in time.

Snow Pictures

Before I do anything else, let me TIME/DATE STAMP this blog entry.
3/21/10 9:40 PM
Nothing like putting away your tank tops for a day and dragging all your snow gear back out. The snow we got back in February was very fun, but from what I could tell from the lack of people out playing in it, everyone is over snow and ready for spring.

Here's Parker, showing the snow depth:

More snow pics

Here are some more snow pictures of the house and yard - Gigi took these. So pretty!

Front yard

Pretty tree in driveway.

Pretty Parker in snow. She saved this snowball and one other for me and Bob in the freezer.

Backyard view from the back of the kitchen

Most of the snow is melted now....I went for a run today and in nearly every yard there is a slumped, half melted, half dressed snowman. But no people....I guess Texans can only handle so much cold weather and snow play.

Snow Pictures

What? You were expecting some other kind of pictures? Not ski trip pics? Ok ok, I'll do ski trip later.

But to put the other ones in context, all of the RECORD SETTING SNOWFALL in the DFW area happened while Bob and I were in Canada skiing and celebrating his 40th birthday. Ironically, there was nearly zero new snowfall where we skied in Canada.

These are mainly pictures from Thursday, after school. Bob's mom, Parker's "Gigi", stayed with her while we traveled. I was so happy to know that Gigi was able to reach the sled on the hook in the garage.

Our snow angel

It snowed all night, reportedly, and school was canceled. Here's the view from the front walk:

There aren't any pictures of Parker playing in the snow on Friday because it was too cold...both indoors and out. Around midnight on Thursday we lost power along with many many others (180,000?). Gigi and Parker stuck it out for part of the day until they were rescued by Bob's Dad, Parker's "Papa". He drove up, packed everyone up, and they all took the 2 hour trip back to their (cozy, heated, electrified) house for the night.
I can't imagine what a PITB all that was for Gigi and Papa, but Parker thought it was a great adventure.

more snow pictures

It continued to snow all last night, so there's several inches....I don't know what the official report is, but it's 3" maybe? You can look at my footprints and see the depth.
In a brilliant move earlier this year, I ordered a sled from LLBean when they had free shipping. It's been sitting in a box in the garage during all of the 40 degree winter. We finally had a chance to open it!

Parker is not what you call a morning person, so it was iffy whether or not we were going to get outside before it all melted. We did several runs up and down the front slope in the yard...I could get her going and then fling her a bit and she'd slide on her own. But then her hands got cold, and she's DONE.
